Watch Your Back: A pacy, gripping thriller with an unbelievable twist

About this book

As Independent Scottish booksellers, we write all of our descriptions personally, we hope you enjoy this one.

Jo has learned how to live quietly. She keeps her past close and her circle small, careful not to invite questions about her mother’s murder. Fifteen years on, a parcel arrives containing unopened letters addressed to her, sent from prison. Before she can read them, they are taken.

The loss unsettles the life she has built. It suggests someone else is watching, someone with reason to keep the past sealed. As Jo tries to trace the letters and the person who sent them, she is drawn back towards a history shaped by violence and silence, set against the stone streets of Edinburgh.

This is a psychological thriller rooted in character rather than spectacle. It moves through themes of memory, guilt and the fragile distance between safety and exposure. Jo’s search is careful, determined, and shadowed by the knowledge that uncovering the truth may cost more than she expects.
