Billy Connolly: Tall Tales & Wee Stories

About this book

As Independent Scottish booksellers, we write all of our descriptions personally, we hope you enjoy this one.

Billy Connolly has always been as much a storyteller as a stand-up, someone who understands the pleasure of letting a tale wander, double back, and catch you off guard. Billy Connolly: Tall Tales & Wee Stories brings together some of his best-known routines alongside shorter pieces that show the craft beneath the chaos.

These are stories shaped by voice and timing, full of everyday absurdity, sharp observation, and the peculiar logic that turns small moments into something memorable. From familiar favourites to less celebrated gems, the humour comes threaded with warmth and a clear affection for people in all their strangeness.

Illustrated throughout and introduced by Billy Connolly himself, the book feels personal rather than archival. It captures a way of seeing the world that values curiosity over polish and laughter over restraint. Read in one sitting or dipped into at random, these stories remind you that comedy, at its best, is a form of generosity, offered without fuss and remembered long after the punchline has passed.
