Around the time of the Renaissance, God looks down at Earth and finds little to trouble him. He takes a short holiday. A week in Heaven becomes centuries below. When he returns, the world has unravelled into war, famine and cruelty, and faith has hardened into something unrecognisable.

JC is reborn in contemporary New York, a struggling musician with a simple message he cannot persuade anyone to hear. Be nice. With no pulpit left to him, he turns to American Pop Star, hoping a song might travel further than a sermon. Fame, however, comes with its own machinery. The show is controlled by a powerful record executive who understands belief, spectacle and desire far better than JC expects.

This is speculative literary fiction that blends satire with unease. It asks what kindness means in a world shaped by power and performance, and whether a moral idea can survive being remade as entertainment.
