Driftnet: Begin the Darkly Thrilling Scottish Crime Series: 1 (Rhona MacLeod, 1)

About this book

As Independent Scottish booksellers, we write all of our descriptions personally, we hope you enjoy this one.

Seventeen years ago, Rhona MacLeod gave up her newborn son. Now she stands in a Glasgow flat in the early hours, faced with the body of a murdered teenage boy. As a forensic scientist, she is trained to observe without flinching. Yet the resemblance unsettles her, and the past she has tried to keep sealed begins to press in.

Driven by guilt and uncertainty, Rhona pursues the truth alongside the investigation, searching not only for a killer but for an answer she may not be ready to hear. Her work draws her into the darker reaches of the city, where the young and vulnerable are easily exploited, and silence is carefully protected.

As the case tightens, the risks deepen. Powerful interests lie beneath the surface, and knowledge becomes dangerous. Driftnet is a work of crime and psychological tension, attentive to character and atmosphere, and rooted in the quiet moral weight of what cannot be undone.
