Jack-in-the-Box: A D.I. Lomond Thriller

About this book

As Independent Scottish booksellers, we write all of our descriptions personally, we hope you enjoy this one.

In Glasgow’s affluent suburbs, safety has been engineered into everyday life. Cameras, alarms, lights, guard dogs. Storm doors and window locks. Martial arts, knives close to hand, even a gun. And still someone gets in.

A killer is invading homes and smothering people when they are left on their own. The tabloids name him Jack in the Box, for the way he folds bodies into tight spaces, and for his uncanny knack of appearing as if from nowhere. The fear is not only in the deaths, but in the breach, the sense that walls and warnings mean nothing.

Inspector Lomond is left with a case that refuses to behave. Each house is found locked, each security system intact. There is no forced entry, and the video footage shows no intruder arriving or leaving. The questions multiply in the silence between one secure door and the next.
