Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was a novelist best known for Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, a landmark Gothic work often regarded as an early example of science fiction. She also edited and championed the writings of her husband, the Romantic poet and philosopher Percy Bysshe Shelley.
