Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor, born in 1968 in Nairobi, is a Kenyan writer celebrated for her contributions to literature and the arts, named “Woman of the Year” by Eve Magazine in 2004. She won the 2003 Caine Prize for African Writing for her story Weight of Whispers, exploring the life of a Rwandan refugee in Kenya, originally published in Kwani?. Her novel Dust (2014) has been praised for its vivid, poetic portrayal of Kenya’s turbulent 20th-century history.
