The Family Business: A gripping Dundee-based novel in the Polish detective series

About this book

As Independent Scottish booksellers, we write all of our descriptions personally, we hope you enjoy this one.

In the hills north of Dundee, Detective Inspector Dania Gorska oversees the search for a missing child. Police officers and volunteers move through rough ground with care, hoping for signs of life. What they find instead is a body, chained inside a derelict hut, long hidden from view.

The remains are identified as Cameron Affleck, a boy who vanished years earlier in a case left unresolved. His father, still searching the fields where his son was last seen, has never relinquished hope. Dania returns to the old investigation, drawn by the possibility that past and present are connected.

As she works back through the years, the Affleck family’s history begins to shift. Gaps appear, loyalties strain, and secrets surface that have been carefully protected. This is crime fiction attentive to grief and endurance, and to the uneasy truth that some losses never loosen their hold, no matter how much time has passed.
