Double Proof – Shortlisted for the Bloody Scotland Debut Prize

About this book

As Independent Scottish booksellers, we write all of our descriptions personally, we hope you enjoy this one.

Double Proof moves between two disappearances separated by almost sixty years. In 1964, a cache of exceptional Scotch whisky, known as Dalziel Double Proof, vanishes without trace. The theft becomes legend, whispered about but never solved.

In 2023, history echoes when Albie Dalziel, the youngest son of the powerful family behind the lost whisky, goes missing. With the police offering little comfort, his mother turns to Robbie Gould, a disgraced journalist scraping by on his reputation as a so called psychic investigator. Gould knows the image is a sham, but he also knows he cannot afford to refuse.

What begins as a search for a missing man drags him into a dangerous web of stolen whisky, drug dealers, corrupt police, online fame seekers and yakuza gangsters. When violence comes knocking at his door, Gould realises this case does not need second sight to be lethal. Double Proof is a fast paced crime novel where past crimes refuse to stay buried.
