He is thoughtful where Cameron is reckless, haunted by faith, mortality, and the pull of addiction. The connection between these two men is not immediately clear, but it is anything but accidental.

Complicity is a dark, unsettling novel about responsibility and denial, about how violence can be enabled at a distance, and how easily moral certainty collapses under pressure. Set against a recognisable Scotland of media noise and private damage, it asks where guilt truly lies, and whether knowing the truth is ever enough.
