About this book

As Independent Scottish booksellers, we write all of our descriptions personally, we hope you enjoy this one.

A Winter Grave is set against the frozen terrain of the Scottish Highlands, where isolation and cold sharpen every danger. High on a mountain above Kinlochleven, a young meteorologist makes a grim discovery at a remote weather station. A missing man lies preserved in ice, turning a routine check into the start of a murder investigation.

Glasgow detective Cameron Brodie is sent north to follow the trail. Battling illness as well as treacherous weather, he travels far beyond his usual territory, driven by motives that are not entirely professional. The closer he gets to the truth, the more the case begins to mirror his own unresolved past.

In a village cut off by snow and silence, Brodie finds suspicion runs deep and secrets are fiercely protected. Someone is prepared to kill to keep the past buried. A Winter Grave is a tense and atmospheric crime novel, where landscape, memory and violence collide with devastating consequences.
