The Hunting Party – Everyone’s invited…everyone’s a suspect

About this book

As Independent Scottish booksellers, we write all of our descriptions personally, we hope you enjoy this one.

A group of old friends arrive at a remote hunting lodge to see in the New Year, cut off by snow and distance from the rest of the world. The Scottish landscape is stark and unforgiving, a place where silence settles quickly and secrets have room to breathe. They bring with them shared history, half remembered resentments, and the roles they have learned to play for one another over the years.

By morning, one of them is dead. What follows is not a frantic scramble but a slow unravelling, as the past presses in and the group’s carefully maintained stories begin to fail. Each person has something to hide, and the isolation makes honesty feel dangerous. Friendship curdles into suspicion, and memory proves unreliable when everyone remembers the same moments differently.

The Hunting Party is a tightly wound crime novel that uses its wintry setting to powerful effect. Beneath the surface drama lies a darker question about intimacy and trust, and what happens when the people who know you best may also know how to destroy you.
