On a weekend escape to Islay, four late thirties ex university mates arrive with a serious thirst and a dangerous sense of confidence. Driven by amateur whisky nut Adam, they bring a wallet full of cash, a stash of coke, and the idea that cask strength single malts will be enough to drown out whatever has been waiting back home.
Islay is remote, and it has its own rules. Over the course of a weekend soaked in drink, they meet Molly, a young divorcee Adam has a soft spot for, her little sister Ash, and Molly’s ex husband Joe, a control freak who is also the local police. The island’s tight edges begin to close around them as loyalties shift and small decisions turn heavy.
What starts as a boozy getaway becomes something harsher. As events spiral out of control, the men find themselves in a nightmare that worsens at every turn, with no easy way to sober up, and nowhere to disappear.
