The Wolf Mile: The explosive start to a gritty dystopian thriller series set in Edinburgh (The Pantheon Series)

About this book

As Independent Scottish booksellers, we write all of our descriptions personally, we hope you enjoy this one.

Across the streets of Edinburgh, a hidden contest unfolds, watched by millions yet sealed off from ordinary life. The Pantheon Games draw in young recruits willing to abandon the present day and fight with ancient weapons, relying on skill, endurance and judgement to survive.

Tyler Maitland and Lana Cameron enter for reasons of their own, knowing only that there is no safe way back. They are placed among seven warrior teams and set loose in a city transformed into an arena, where alliances shift and violence is governed by ritual as much as instinct.

As the contest deepens, what first appears as spectacle reveals something older and more unsettling. The Games strip their participants of certainty, pushing them towards choices that will test the limits of who they believe themselves to be.

This is speculative fiction with the tension of a thriller, rooted in place and driven by character, asking what remains when survival becomes the only rule.
