Pandaemonium
Overview
Pandaemonium follows teenager Danny McGuire and his friends during what should be an ordinary night out at a Glasgow cinema. Instead they find themselves trapped when a supernatural force tears through the building. What begins as confusion becomes a desperate fight for survival against a demonic outbreak that spreads rapidly.
Writing & Voice
We found Brookmyre’s writing fast and energetic. The prose moves with the urgency of a thriller while keeping the humour and voice that define his work. Action scenes unfold quickly but remain clear, giving the story momentum without losing the characters at the centre.
Content & Perspective
The narrative stays close to Danny and the small group trying to understand what is happening inside the cinema. As the supernatural threat grows, the story blends horror with coming of age tension. We watch friendships tested while the characters struggle to survive the chaos around them.
Themes
Pandaemonium explores fear, courage and the strange resilience of young people facing events far beyond their experience. Beneath the horror elements lies a story about loyalty and the instinct to protect others when normal rules collapse.

- Some horror elements lean into familiar genre territory.
Final Thoughts
We came away feeling this was horror with momentum, a fast descent into chaos that still leaves space for humour and heart.
