The Purified

About this book

As Independent Scottish booksellers, we write all of our descriptions personally, we hope you enjoy this one.

In the Highland village of Duncul, Eamon’s new found happiness is broken by a kind of murder the government would rather insist no longer happens. The village draws attention, and the old sense of distance from the rest of the world begins to thin.

Detective Maclean believes he has the killer, the case closed and contained. But beneath the waters of the Minch, something worse than a body is brought to the surface, something that should never have been disturbed. What follows is not only an investigation, but the slow realisation that the story is larger than any one suspect.

As scrutiny gathers, the village is no longer watched only by TV crews. The eyes on Duncul multiply, and the pressure grows in the spaces between what people know, what they fear, and what they are being told to ignore.
