On a farming estate in the upper reaches of the River Spey, a shepherding family lives close to land, weather, and the long memory of work. When Highland shepherd Colvin Munro disappears, a trail of his possessions is found in the Cairngorm mountains, scattered like an unanswered question.

Years later, his foundling sister Mo is asked to write the eulogy for his memorial. In the act of shaping his life into words, she begins to search for what might explain his vanishing. Their younger brother Sorley is also haunted by the absence, driven to name the forces that pulled Colvin away. The uncertainty stays raw. Is their brother alive or dead?

Of Stone and Sky moves through several generations of this family, holding the bonds between people, their land, and a way of life that is never separate from power and change.
