Sir Ian Rankin is a Scottish crime writer born in Fife in 1960, best known for his Inspector Rebus series. After graduating from the University of Edinburgh, he worked a variety of jobs before becoming a full-time writer. Rankin received a knighthood in 2022 for services to literature and charity.
